About Us

We are a fishing family living now thirty-five years in Homer.  Our 7 acres of Hesketh Island is our own little piece of Shangri-La.

It was never meant to be more than a getaway for our own family's recreation and eventually to build a house that we would use seasonally in our retirement.  But unfortunately for us the salmon keep us way too busy in the prime months of mid-summer for us

to use it much ourselves.  The location is simply too beautiful not to be used in that season.

COME AND ENJOY OUR RUSTIC CABIN ON A PRISTINE ALASKAN ISLAND GETAWAY!

LOCATION:

Any trip to Hesketh Island begins in the Homer Boat harbor. Nicknamed, "The End of the Road" Homer is the last stop west on the US Highway system, and a garden spot amoung Alaska coastal towns. Here you will find a dozen or more water taxi companies to shuttle visitors to points on the far side of Kachemak Bay. Or you could arrange for a float plane to drop you off.

After a forty minute boat ride you will be set ashore on the south beach of Hesketh Island at our cabin. Set above a pebble beach and facing south to beautiful mountains and glaciers, our cabin can be a jumping off point to great halibut and king salmon fishing nearby. There are world-class hiking trails through the mountains and valleys nearby. In late summer and fall the berry picking in the area-- the salmonberry, and highbush blueberries--is not to be believed. To the south in the Chugach Range, pristine glaciers abound. The sport fishing for king salmon and halibut nearby is particularly good. Or at times we just build a fire on the beach with driftwood and roast something simple as we watch the sun slowly angle its way to the horizon in the most colorful sunset lighting to be found anywhere on earth.
